Honeymoon planning isn’t always the top of the list as the actual wedding planning consumes all of the couple’s attention, leaving the honeymoon in the dust. The honeymoon is the much-needed respite after the fiasco, too. For some, it’s their first big trip. For others, it might be their first big trip together. It’s not always smooth sailing, though. Due to booking too late, ill-planning, and maybe even too small of budgets.

Procrastinating
The ideal time to book your honeymoon is between 6 and 8 months prior to when you plan to leave. The problem with procrastinating is that premium rooms (especially at all inclusive resorts) fill up fast, layovers become longer, and prices for everything go up.
Not Seeking Professional Help
It is always better to use a travel agent, especially if this is your first time traveling by yourself. Travel agents will help you build your trip, create an itinerary, and even help you find discounts. People usually think that agents make your trip more expensive, but in reality, they have all the inside knowledge on discounts and deals. Agents also book non-stop flights and take care of literally everything for you, free of charge.
Leaving Too Soon After The Wedding
This is a big thing to keep in mind when booking. Some people think it’s common to leave right after the wedding in the middle of the night or early the next morning. Chances are there will be alcohol involved, both of you will be beyond exhausted, and the last thing you’re going to want to think about is traveling. Take the next morning to sleep in a bit, then have a luncheon with family and open gifts! Leave the day after that at the earliest, or take a few days to recuperate and let yourself rest so you don’t get sick right before the honeymoon!
Not Sharing The Planning
You want an excursion filled trip to an all-inclusive beach resort in the Caribbean, but your husband wants a relaxing escape to the mountains. You both need to work together to compromise on what your honeymoon will consist of and share the planning together. This trip doesn’t need to turn into your trip that you planned all on your own. It’s important to share every part of it with your spouse so you both enjoy your trip to the fullest.
Changing Your Budget Last Minute
While planning your honeymoon, it’s important to keep the budget in mind, and keeping that number set. You’ll come to find that things add up fast and you’ll be so excited you’ll think it’s okay to alter the budget here and there. In the world of wedding planning, all brides should know that the budget shouldn’t alter because you (or your parents) put it in place for a reason.
