Olivia was enjoying single life when she first met Barrie. They had their first date in a local bar on Eastbourne Harbour and love soon blossomed. Barrie proposed during a romantic dinner date in a restaurant in the Cotswolds. “I was so surprised, I just wasn’t expecting it,” remembers Olivia.

Olivia decided to search the high street for her perfect wedding gown. She eventually decided on a dress from Phase Eight’s bridal range. The ivory dress had lace and sparkle detailing and a long train. “I felt like a movie star in my dress,” says Olivia. “It was very special but it was filthy by the end of the night!” The dress was a bargain too at only £500. Olivia chose a boho look for her big day so added pink flowers in her hair and wore earrings given to her by her brother. She also borrowed her mother-in-law’s pearl and diamond necklace and wore ivory peep toe shoes. A cathedral veil completed the whole look, and was attached in the middle with her grandad’s blue Royal British Legion badge for an extra sentimental touch.

Barrie chose a tailored, navy blue suit from Reiss and paired it with brown shoes. “He looked very dapper,” smiles Olivia.

Olivia had an impressive nine bridesmaids for her big day including her best friends Sara, Sera and Corrine, their daughters and her little sister. They looked beautiful in mid-length pink floaty dresses, which Olivia found online, with pearl necklaces and nude wedges. Corrine’s son Ruben was page boy and wore a tweed suit from Mamas and Papas.

The religious ceremony took place at St Bartholomew’s Church in Burwash. Olivia walked down the aisle with her dad, and friend James read 1 Corinthians 13.

Country farm shabby chic was the theme of choice for this wedding. Guests were served a hog roast with a salad buffet and apple pie for dessert. “We didn’t bother with a table plan as we wanted a really relaxed environment,” says Olivia. “The venue was on my dad’s farm in an old agricultural barn. Everything was made by my dad, one of my aunties or someone I knew.” Details included bunting, a tractor chandelier, a trailer for the band, upside down trees with fairy lights on the ceiling, a home made bar, a glittery dance floor and personalised scare crows! Flowers were provided by Orchard Farm Shop in Hurst Green and the couple chose to have a naked cake decorated with fresh flowers. Drummers from Hastings marched the couple into the reception and singer Hebe, the band Kytes from Hastings and a magician entertained guests. The happy couple decided against giving favours and instead had a free bar for their guests to enjoy.

Olivia and Barrie had a relaxing escape to the Maldives for their honeymoon where they enjoyed sunbathing and snorkelling!
