As Easy As A, B, C…

We knew we needed to follow up on last week’s blog post on the difference between Escort Cards and Place Cards.

We know that the terms have become interchangeable and no one is ever quite sure of the uses and which is which.

Off The Chart

Tying in with escort cards is the relatively recent addition of Seating Charts.

By recent we mean that seating charts are something that didn’t come about until somewhere around 2000 or so

The Good and The Bad

They can be beautiful and personalized, but they also can have some challenges for you as the couple and for guests as well.

The good is that you can express your style and personality and that done well they are big and easy to read.

The bad is when it comes to finding your name on a chart that might be hard to follow.

A before B

Just like escort cards, a seating chart should be listed alphabetically by last name. We, unfortunately still see stationers, planners, and couples who are listing these by table number.

The challenge for wedding guests is that, especially with larger weddings, looking through ten, twelve or more tables to find your name is hard with 100+ guest all looking at the same time.

Where in the World?

The same rules apply to seating charts with cities, favorite vacation spots and other creative table names. List guests alphabetically under a letter heading and then the assigned table name next to or below the guest’s name.
