The annual Roma “bride market” took place in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria on Saturday. During the festivities, the Kalaidzhi – a semi-nomadic Roma tribe – negotiated prices for brides, a process which traditionally leads to marriage.
While young men and women meet at this family gathering, fathers are introduced to potential grooms alongside their mothers who are dressed in traditional long velvet skirts.
