Sarah and Thomas shared a true ‘girl next door moment’, meeting in Loughborough while living next door to each other. It might come as a surprise then, that their first of official date took place in Melbourne, Australia! “We got to know each other as neighbours only for Tom to tell me he had a one-way ticket to Australia booked. Before we knew it my flight was booked too! We had three wonderful weeks out there together and decided to make it official.”

Two years later, Tom asked Sarah to be his wife on Christmas Day. “He came into our room on Christmas morning and asked me to be his wife. The ring was a flawless solitaire diamond that he had chosen himself and it was just lovely,” smiles Sarah.

“Finding my dress was a funny story! About a year before I was even engaged, my mother spotted a gorgeous gown in the window of a bridal shop while we were walking past. She gave me her wedding ring to borrow and before I knew it I was in the shop wearing my Mori Lee 1248 dress. It was soon forgotten about, but once I was engaged I tried dress after dress without having the same reaction.”

“We called Cara, the owner of Windsor and Eton Brides, where I’d seen the blush Mori Lee dress which had since been sold, and she ordered it in again for me to try. I fell in love all over again!”

Sarah teamed her gown with a handmade sparkly hairpiece, also from the boutique, with an elbow-length, diamante covered blush veil and sparkly Jimmy Choo sandals. She borrowed her mother’s diamond earrings and her father gifted her a diamond necklace to wear with them.

“Tom wore a three-piece Ben Sherman slim-fit suit in a Prince of Wales check pale grey print to complement the silver on my dress. The six groomsmen wore the same suit but without the waistcoat and with charcoal ties. Tom’s tie matched my dress instead.”

The bride was attended by six bridesmaids, and, with all of them being tall, finding the right dresses proved a challenge. “We decided to go with a silver dress to match the embellishments on mine and I had them made to measure from Kissy Dress in silk. The girls also wore shoes from House of Fraser and I gifted them blush pearl earrings and necklaces. To help my chief bridesmaid stand out, I had a diamante appliqué sash on a blush ribbon handmade for her.”

This couple’s religious ceremony took place at St Mary’s Church in Amersham. “Caroline, our reverend, couldn’t have been nicer. She told stories of how Tom and I met and even gave us the opportunity to take an altar selfie – it made everyone chuckle and was a great photograph to keep!” Seeing her brother tear up as she walked down the aisle with her father was a moment this bride will never forget.

“Our wedding theme was sparkle! I had ‘let love sparkle’ printed onto cards tied to the favours and sparklers and we opted for sparkly silver invitations too as a clue to our theme.”

We included blush in the palette to bring our decorations to life, adding pastel flowers, a floral archway from Shaw’s Florist, Amersham, and silver and blush place settings.” Embellished by Tiffany supplied the invitations and Eagle Eyed Bride provided the blush and silver foiled place names and menus. An 8ft gilt-framed mirror displaying the guest list came from Cavendish Events, Class Act Lighting supplied the LED sparkly dance floor, and a family member provided the couple’s Ferrero Rocher pyramid.

“I wanted the day to be completely personal to Tom and I, so having my auntie make our wedding cake for us was a big deal. I loved the fact it was made with love and by such a wonderful person! She had been on a course to learn how to ice it and handmade beautiful blush pink roses and petals to cascade down the side. I’m not a sponge cake fan, so she made it with my favourite fruitcake instead.”

Caterers Caper and Berry not only created a feast – featuring duck rillettes with pear, tarragon chicken and pancetta, and a trio of desserts – they also provided the tableware.

Gold rimmed glasses, blush serviettes and gold cutlery completed the couple’s theme beautifully, as did the miniature Martini rose prosecco bottles, which were gifted as favours to each guest, from Just Miniatures.

Tunes from the ’80s had everyone dancing thanks to the live music from The Wild Boys, with Class Act providing an interim DJ service. “We had boules, croquet and quoits to entertain guests during the canapés as well as a string quartet from Manor House Music. As the evening went on, guests made hilarious use of the photobooth, sourced from Strike A Pose Photobooths!”
