Recycling is all the rage no matter where you are or what you’re doing.

With reusable straws, less plastic and more compost, it would only make sense to recycle your wedding decorations, right?

According to Business Insider, on average an engaged couple spends $33,391 on their wedding and anywhere from $2,379 – $6,050 on their decorations. Candles, tool, flowers, glue, wine corks, ribbon, the list could go on. You spent months and months gathering all of your decorations and even more time trying to convince your friends and family to come over on a Saturday and Sunday for free wine and endless craft time. But after the big day, what do you do with all of the things you spent so long making? You don’t want to throw them away, that’d be crazy, plus you put a lot of time, blood, sweat and tears into those things. Well, waste not!

Here are some ways you can recycle your wedding decorations:

Facebook

Facebook Groups:

Perhaps the most obvious place to recycle your wedding decorations. You probably use Facebook at least once a day so why not use it to recycle your gently used wedding decorations? Aside from the traditional marketplace which is slowly but surely starting to replace traditional yard sales, there are actual groups dedicated to local area couples looking for wedding items. Some of these groups are private, so you’ll have to be accepted first, but that’s usually pretty easy once you prove you’re not there to start promoting your business, you’re just looking to get back a portion of the money you spent on those shimmery gold custom napkins.

Recycle on Ebay

eBay:

Do you have some extra time on your hands now that you’re not spending every spare minute planning your wedding? Perfect! Ebay may just be the place for you. If you have the time to take some pictures and pick a price, Ebay can be the best place to unload leftover or gently used wedding decor. Mermaid-themed wedding? Great, you best believe there is someone on Ebay who’s looking to throw a 25th birthday party and guess what the theme is? Mermaids.

Donate

Donation:

Giving makes your heart feel good. It’s plain and simple. You donate your clothes and some people even consider their advice a donation, so why not donate your wedding decorations. Candles you didn’t lite? Glassware you didn’t use? Perfect! There’s definitely someone out there that could use those things. Not only would you be clearing it out of your basement or the spare bedroom, but you’ll also be putting it towards someone else’s special day and that’s got to feel good!

Websites:

You’d be SURPRISED to find that there are a TON of websites out there that specialize in recycled wedding decor. In fact, if you’re planning your wedding or you know someone who is, this is a great place to look before you head to the store or Amazon. Some websites like WeddingRecycle.com are extremely legit and they offer couples good deals on stuff that you actually want. Plus, some of these websites even offer few-of-a-kind items, so if you’re looking for something unique and on a budget, this might be the right avenue for you!
