How To Decorate a Mantelpiece for your Wedding
I love a beautiful mantelpiece, especially in the winter when it’s above a cozy fire, and with so many venues boasting stunning mantels what better excuse to get styling?
It’s important to take into consideration the location of the mantelpieces in your venue, whether there will be a fire lit or is it just for decoration itself?
Mantelpieces can make beautiful backdrops for ceremonies or your cake or simply be personalized with beautiful detail to make your guests feel at home at your special celebration.
Flowers in Vases
A simple but elegant row of flowers in clear vases is a fresh and colorful way to dress your mantel.
By using glassware of different heights and shapes you can create interest without distracting from the floral arrangements.
If candles are allowed in your venue then you could add dinner candles and tea lights to add a welcoming warmth and glow to this display (but be careful where you place the candles as you do not want any singed petals!)
Family Portraits
This design is a wonderful way to include treasured family photos in your decor. We’ve paired gold love letters with vintage frames, books and fresh blooms.
Height was added with taller vases and we included some vintage cameras for extra detail. I often notice that different generations of a family love looking and reminiscing over family wedding photos on display at a wedding.
It’s a simple but poignant way of also remembering loved ones no longer with you but still part of your journey as a couple.
Antique Books
Vintage books were stacked on either side of this monogrammed sign.
With some foliage to add color, this pretty arrangement would work all year round.
You could use pages from your favorite novel to make it pretty and personal or maybe even love letters?
Moss Letters
I love the dark green foliage and bright white flowers of this arrangement.
The moss letters add texture and personality to the look and can be taken home as a keepsake at the end of the day.
Keeping to two colors can make a real impact and your florist will be able to advise which blooms are in season and which will work well for height and texture.
Paper Shapes
Paper blooms were used to transform this vintage picture frame into something and we stretched three lengths of ribbon across the frame and added gold initials and glittery hearts for a sweet touch.
This look is ideal if you’re planning on having a fire as fresh blooms will wilt in the heat.
Several frames can be leaned across the mantel with different size paper flowers. These had a wire attached so simple to secure and move about.
Wedding Stationery
For the last of our looks, we created something practical as well as beautiful.
We created a stunning floral table plan by arranging fresh blooms and place names for each table along the mantelpiece; especially good for smaller venues where space is at a premium.
