After travelling the world working on cruise ships together for four years, Asa decided the time was right to ask Samantha to be his wife. “We were holidaying in Thailand – Asa wanted to ask me somewhere memorable. He proposed at a rooftop bar overlooking Bangkok at sunset.”

Samantha discovered her Ingwiller chiffon, tulle and guipure lace ivory gown at Tiara & Tails Bridal Boutique in Ashford, Kent. The design featured an elegant keyhole back, lace train and chic high halterneck. Samantha’s sister attended her as bridesmaid, stepping out in an AX Paris number in peach with a halterneck and chiffon skirt to complement the bride’s own dress.

“Our entire wedding was based at The Night Yard – one viewing was all it took to convince us that it was the venue for us.”

“We wanted a very outdoor wedding where rooms wouldn’t divide everyone up.”

“The outhouse style wooden beams and horse feeders mixed brilliantly with the quirky furniture and accessories on offer at the venue, adding to our conviction that this was the place for us.”

Guitarist and singer Andy Mack performed Michael Jackson’s iconic hit, ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ as the bride walked down the aisle. The couple signed the marriage register to an Arctic Monkeys soundtrack, and exited as husband and wife to ‘Kiss’ by Prince.

“Sit down meals aren’t really our style, so we served a hog roast for guests to tuck into without disrupting the fun. Drunken Hog Catering took care of this, with Sweet ‘n’ Simple stepping in for the evening hot dogs.

To define their rustic fete style, the couple transformed wooden pallets into all manner of decorations, from photo boards to handwritten signs. Upcycled glass cola bottles filled with gypsophila created quirky centrepieces, paired with hessian table runners to suit their outdoor, fete themed wedding. “We sourced a lot from car boot fairs, made garden games and even sourced apple crates from a local farm!”

“We had sack races after the speeches which were funny and brilliant in equal measure!”

“When it came to our first dance, we agonised over so many songs before we had an epiphany with the help of the radio. Kodaline’s ‘The One’ came on while we were at home together and it just seemed to fit us perfectly.”

Despite having travelled so much of the world together already, Las Vegas was still stubbornly stuck on their bucket list. Where better to honeymoon, then?

“We spent five days in Vegas where we took a Champagne helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon, before heading to Mexico for a further seven nights.”
