So, is the new Pantone Color of the Year 2020, Classic Blue a hit or a miss with you?

It’s a versatile color, and a classic blue nodding toward navy is always a big hit when it comes to weddings.

Will you be using Pantone Classic Blue in your wedding?

Navy just might be a better fit across all regions with it’s sophisticated tone that plays well with others!

If you recall, last year Living Coral was the color of the year and YES there was a lot of coral last year in weddings! From the wedding party to the wedding theme/color itself coral was king (or at least princess!)

“There’s more than fluffy snow and the holidays to look forward to in the winter. Both designers and color aficionados know that each December, Pantone announces the new “Color of the Year” to inspire art and design in all of its forms for the upcoming year. The color experts at Pantone make their pick based on “what is needed in our world today.” For 2019, Pantone chose the energizing and vibrant Living Coral, to restore positivity. To begin the new decade, however, Pantone’s tastemakers have selected a very different swatch from their collection.

Classic Blue is officially the Color of the Year 2020. “Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era,” says Pantone. Whereas Living Coral suggested warm mornings and sunlight, Classic Blue resembles an evening sky. This color is intended to inspire a clear, peaceful mind.

Pantone’s choice is made with the anticipation and uncertainty of embarking into a new decade. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, explains, “Imbued with a deep resonance, Classic Blue provides an anchoring foundation. A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious and expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication.”

With the announcement of Classic Blue, Pantone has hopefully set the tone for a peaceful and productive 2020.

We may not be able to toast you with a Classic Blue Cocktail like the Pantone People did at their unveiling in Manhattan—- (oh, think of the teeth!) but we can’t wait to hear if you:

  • Love it-
  • Hate it-
  • Plan to use it in your 2020 Wedding!
