It goes without saying that you’ll have a photographer, and maybe a videographer too, but how else can you capture your wedding day?
As soon as I came across Stephanie Paints Things I knew I would love to have a live painter at my own wedding some day. That was before Ben had even thought about proposing! But working at Wedding Ideas, it was hard not to think about what I would and wouldn’t like if I were planning my own wedding.

On the day itself, our guests will love looking at the painting being created in front of them. It’s a fairly unique idea – I myself haven’t been to a wedding where the couple had a live wedding painter, so I think guests will be surprised and delighted to see Stephanie painting away. A live painter is another form of entertainment for guests. Stephanie will set up and be in position before the guests arrive so that she can start the painting, plotting out details and the background that we will agree together.
Once we had booked Stephanie, she went through all of the little details that we wouldn’t have thought about. It is important that she doesn’t have to move once she has started painting, so things like the risk of rain need to be taken into consideration when you choose the area for her to paint in.
One of the most popular wedding paintings is of the ceremony itself, with the bride and groom captured as they exchange vows. But if your venue has fabulous grounds or a specific area (like a romantic swing or gazebo) that you think would be lovely in a painting, why not choose there instead? Or perhaps you would like the moment you begin your first dance to be painted? Just remember that the low lighting at this point might make the details of your guests harder for the painter to pick up on.
We have decided to wait until nearer our wedding date to choose what we would like captured in our painting. With the fabulous sea views, we know it’s going to be amazing whatever moment we choose! The thing I love most about having a live painter is the finished painting itself, even more than the theatre of it being created. It will make such a unique keepsake from our wedding day and it’s something that we can display in our home and treasure.
