Deputy Editor, Becci Clubb, reveals her wedding day tablescape plans…

As with so many brides these days, Pinterest has been a great source of inspiration for our wedding day. I have hundreds of pins for everything from the cake to the flowers. Only some of these ideas will actually fit with our day (which is probably a good thing, less is more and all that!), but one trend I kept coming back to was the use of glass and perspex for on the day stationery, including table plans, menus and place names.

I decided I’d like to take this trend one step further and include sea glass, to suit our beach side venue. The venue is modern and designed using natural materials like slate, wood and rope, so I think the sea glass will make the most of the beautiful decor that is already there. The coloured glass will also match in with other elements of our day, like the flowers and the bridesmaids dresses. Table names, place names and our seating plan will all feature sea glass with delicate calligraphy writing, beautifully designed by Anon Designer.

Anon Designer have a collection of paper wedding stationery suites, including delicate florals and clean, modern styles with pretty fonts, but I remembered seeing a photoshoot where they had inscribed perspex with calligraphy in place of a traditional menu card. I contacted them and they loved the idea and said they could definitely create our sea glass items for us. With over 10 years of experience working in the wedding and creative industry, the lovely ladies at Anon Designer understood my vision instantly.

Place settings

For the overall look of the table setting we are planning to hire glass plate chargers to add a bit of glitz to the wooden tables. Whitehouse Event Crockery had just the design I had been looking for after seeing them in photographs. If your venue is a dry hire venue you can hire everything you could possibly need for your table setting, including cutlery, crockery and glassware.

We have chosen glass plate chargers to tie in with our sea glass stationery pieces and the venue’s natural materials, but if you are throwing a vintage themed celebration Whitehouse Event Crockery have vintage cups, saucers and plates to suit your day. For a formal white wedding there is a selection of elegant white crockery or for a rustic day why not add glimmering rose gold for a touch of sparkle?!

Our cutlery will become a feature too (thanks to the beautiful photoshoots we feature in Wedding Ideas putting ideas in my head!), with each knife and fork placed together and accessorised with silk ribbons to quite literally tie our colours in together. We will have a selection of ribbons from VV Rouleaux, who have stores in London and Bath.

Look to styled shoots and Pinterest for plenty of ideas for how to create a beautiful table setting to suit your own wedding theme. Happy planning!
