Leeds Castle, Kent

This fairytale venue is now available on an exclusive hire basis – with beautiful state rooms, idyllic surroundings and impeccable staff dedicated to your wedding alone…
Situated in Kent’s rolling countryside, Leeds Castle offers a variety of wedding packages and romantic settings. With glorious peacocks and black swans roaming the 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens, it’s hard to believe the venue is only an hour away from the city of London.

Originally built in the 12th century as a Norman stronghold, the Castle has been the private property of six medieval queens and was most famously owned by King Henry VIII and his queen, Catherine of Aragon. In the early 20th century, it served as an elegant retreat for the rich and famous where Lady Baillie, the last private owner, entertained high society guests including Sir Winston Churchill and John F. Kennedy. Today, Leeds Castle is still the most captivating of venues, and it is clear to see why the Castle was once famously described by historian Lord Conway as, “the loveliest Castle in the world”.

Be ‘King and Queen’ for the day with flexible use of the Castle, Maiden’s Tower and garden, as well as the croquet lawn on the Castle island. Weddings within the Castle take place in the elegant Ceremony Room adjoining the book-lined Library, ideal for Champagne drinks receptions. Banquet-style wedding breakfasts are served in the largest room of the Castle, the Henry VIII Banqueting Hall, with incredible views across the moat and a grand 16th Century French Caen stone fireplace. The Fairfax Barn, overlooking the Castle across the moat, is also suitable for evening receptions for up to 200 guests. Another exclusive venue on the estate is the Maiden’s Tower; a 16th century property adjacent to the Castle, offering a private garden and luxurious bedrooms. With further accommodation available throughout the estate, Leeds Castle is perfect for both grand and intimate events.

But perhaps Leeds Castle’s most charming and intimate venue of all is the newly-restored Battel Hall. This 14th century manor has been completely refurbished into a luxurious country-house, and will be opening in spring 2018 for the first time in its near 700 year history on an exclusive hire basis. Situated on the edge of the estate, the house provides secluded luxury with the added benefit of access to Leeds Castle. Couples can say ‘I Do’ in the oak-panelled ceremony room or under the old English bower amidst the blossoming gardens.
