We thought that Christmas Eve was the perfect day to stop and talk a little bit about holiday weddings; and some of the things you might want to consider when planning your wedding.

Not just right now, but pretty much the entire month of December. Many couples who get engaged over the December holiday season choose to mark the occasion by planning a wedding for the same time the following year. Which can be a lovely and meaningful thought.

The first consideration before picking a wedding date might be to check with immediate family and close friends first.

Beginning the first week in December people’s lives get busy. Finishing up with school, shopping, traveling and trying to get it all in before they get to Hanukkah or Christmas. As you begin to choose dates closer to the Christmas and New Year’s holiday often times airline tickets, and hotel rooms can increase in price.

Then we have a significant consideration that nearly always gets overlooked.

HOLIDAY DECORATIONS!

Unless you are planning a Christmas themed wedding, and not everyone getting married in December is; you can expect that the wedding venue might have some holiday decorations. When you are booking venue site visits for a wedding from Thanksgiving on you might want to ask about decorations.

Unfortunately, the larger the venue, the less information on installation timing, amount of décor and colors the sales team might have advance notice on.

Some venues may remove a tree from the ballroom, others may charge you, and there are some who will not remove decorations at all. Regardless, you can expect that public spaces will remain decorated.

Be sure to ask specific questions, and make sure that clear details are written into your wedding agreement and verified by an owner or General Manager.

December weddings can be absolutely beautiful and filled with family and fun; you just need to ask the right questions and know what you want for your wedding day.
