Let’s face it…

Not everyone has a limitless budget when it comes to wedding expenses, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a fabulous honeymoon. There are still plenty of affordable honeymoon getaways where your dollar can be stretched a lot further, including this fantastic, budget-friendly destination.

Mexico is well-known for being a more affordable honeymoon destination, and you’ll find practically an endless number of beautiful beaches, great snorkeling, and all sorts of other activities that won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

Visiting Tulum is a perfect trip for those who crave adventure and love to explore; those who tire of idly lounging around the pool all day. Sound like your kind of honeymoon?

Browse below to see all the exciting things you and your groom can experience together in Tulum.

Sac Actun, meaning ‘white cave’ in Mayan, is the second-longest underwater cave system in the world, accessible by hundreds of sinkholes (the cenotes). These gorgeous caverns are punctuated by stalactites and stalagmites jutting out all over the place. Sac Actun is only 4km from Tulum, but is also easily accessible by Playa Del Carmen as well. The best cenotes in Sac Actun are listed here.

Cenotes are magical cave-like sink holes filled with clearest water you’ll ever find. You can even take a dive and explore the underwater world like the bride above for her ‘trash the dress‘ shoot!

Over-looking the sea, this 13th-century archaeological site is located at Tulum National Park and is one of the only mayan cities surrounded by a wall. On the clifftop is Castillo, a watchtower over looking the sea. Inside the Templo de las Pinuras is a partially restored mural, be sure to sneak a peak at it!

More towards the inland, the Cobá archaeological site has pyramid-shaped temples with stunning views surrounding the jungle. (above)

“Sian Ka’an is one of the most spectacular and ecologically diverse places on earth – and we want to keep it that way.”

Dean Sanderson

Sian Ka’an means ‘Origin of the Sky’ in the language of the Mayan peoples. This biosphere reserve contains tropical forests, mangroves and marshes, as well as a large marine section intersected by a barrier reef where divers go to explore.

Maya Spa Wellness Center

Catering to the yoga tourist, this spa in the Azulik hotel offers massages, body wraps, crystal therapy treatments and yoga classes.

Recent visitors say the true highlight of Maya Spa are the nighttime temazcal sessions, or steam baths that indigenous Mexicans believed had healing and purifying powers!
