A wedding is a tradition in and of itself, but within a wedding, there are many opportunities for a couple to connect to their history, heritage, family, and values. We’re excited about our new series, Wedding Traditions, where real brides and grooms share the traditions they included in their big day, and what the tradition means to them.

Austin’s parents had a tradition where they gave a large bottle of wine to each of their children from their respective birth year to open on a special occasion. Since Austin can remember, he’s had a Jeroboam of 1987 Chateau d’Yquem. When we got engaged, we realized our wedding night was the perfect time to open it – to share such a special treat with all of our closest friends and family.

After dinner, Austin gave a sweet toast and told the story of the wine, and we were able to give each guest a little taste. Since his father is no longer with us, it was a wonderful way to honor him while also having our guests join in such a memorable tradition.

We can’t wait to continue this tradition with our children someday!
