Every year the Pantone Color Institute releases its Color Of The Year. Yesterday’s announcement has a strange twist for wedding professionals.

The 2019 Color Of The Year is Living Coral (but no exclamation point). It is coming with mixed reviews from Perfect Wedding Guide vendors.

Everything Is Upside Down

The strange twist is that in the past the Color of the Year was released and then we would see it in fashion and consumer products; things like nail polish, lipstick and accessories often lead the way.

A few months later we would see the color making its way into wedding design. But the Perfect Wedding Guide vendors across the country we have been talking to have seen coral for the last five years or so.

Tropical Touches

Coral and Teal began as a favorite pairing as recently as three years ago when floral designers and bakers were getting this request quite frequently. From linens to table runners and sashes coral made appearances as an accent color.

Warm and Welcoming

Pantone describes the color as ‘warm and welcoming but versatile and life-affirming. It energizes with a softer edge than, say, its pastel and neon color cousins.’

We’re sure we’ll see more of this color in wedding designs this year. It is a beautiful color!

It’s fun to see weddings leading the trends!
