5 things to do with your mum on your wedding day…

You’ve planned pretty much every second of your day, and it’s just around the corner now. While the photos, food, decor and dress are all sorted, and the running order of the day is a given, have you actually thought about the smaller moments you’ll want to treasure?

Your mum has likely been there for you a lot throughout the planning (not to mention your life to date!) so here are five things to do with your mum on your wedding day. Make the most of the magical little moments as well as the grand ones – you’ll remember all of them.

Get teary

We doubt many brides, maids and mothers of the bride make it through the wedding morning without getting teary at least once. Your wedding day is a huge day for both you and your mum and she’ll probably be thinking about your years growing up and your years ahead with your new partner. Get those nostalgic moments out of the way before the makeup goes on if you can and make sure you’re all well equipped with the obligatory waterproof mascara and tissues!

Raise a toast

Whatever you want to celebrate – your life to date, your last hours with your maiden name, your soon-to-be marriage – now is the time to pour a little Champagne and raise a toast with your mum and best girls. Why not surprise them by toasting to them too? They’ve probably all done a lot to help you reach this point, so make the most of your chance to show them how much they mean to you.

Get ready together

This one goes without saying – you do have a wedding to get to, after all! Do your best to beat the butterflies and enjoy your morning of pampering and encourage your mum to do the same. You’ve worked so hard to organise everything to this point, now is the time to truly relax, indulge and look forward to your biggest of days!

Have your photos taken

Another given, but we have a few ideas you might not have thought of yet! As well as the traditional formal portraits following the ceremony, make sure you nab a photo with your mum as you’re getting ready on the wedding morning. Have your photographer document your preparations and they will naturally capture those heartfelt hugs and sentimental moments that you’ll love to look back on.

The chances are that your mum has some good advice to give for your future married life. Listen to what she has to say and you’ll stand in good stead as you take the next step with your husband or wife-to-be. Now is also the perfect time to say thank you for the years of love and support you’ve shared and will continue to. You might be grown up and about to get married, but you’ll always be her little girl at heart.
