It doesn’t take long searching on the internet to see a beautiful wedding with long banquet tables. They stretch the length of the ballroom and are filled with guests having a fantastic time.
There may be a couple of things about the long banquet tables that come with your wedding venue that you need to know.
Part of it is simple math.
The standard rectangular banquet table comes in two lengths.
- 6 -foot long tables seat six guests, three on each side
- 8 -foot long tables seat eight guests, four on each side
Sometimes you’ll see tables with a guest on each end, seating eight or ten guests.
Here’s the challenge for most couples.
The standard rectangular banquet table is 30 inches wide, and many of the beautiful tablescapes you’ll see online are actually wider rental tables.
Working with a standard 30-inch wide banquet table, a charger plate is 13 inches wide, with one on each side of the table you have just 6 inches down the middle of your table for centerpieces and glassware. Or, you may have charger plates hanging over the edge of the table. And you don’t have the availability to seat guests on the ends of the table.
36-inch wide tables are available from many rental companies and allow you more table space and the opportunity to sit guests at the end of the tables.
Knowing the size of your wedding venues tables will be helpful when you begin to work with a florist to design your tablescape.
