Let’s face it, we all use social media. Some of us find it to be a horrible addiction to have, but others find it useful in terms of keeping in touch with loved ones and holding on to memories. But did you know there’s more to social media than just chatting and liking funny cat videos? Of course, there are wedding specific apps that are totally useful and worth the download. On the other hand, there are ways to plan your wedding and keep in touch on the apps you already scroll through a thousand times a day!

Vendor Searches

Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are all great places to view the virtual portfolios of any potential vendors all thanks to the use of hashtags. These outlets also offer easy ways to find vendors you actually like and view their work first hand. Searching hashtags such as #weddingplanner #florist #MissouriWeddings #vintagerentals can all be great places to start when attempting to find that perfect vendor. When you find vendors on social media you can make an instant connection that is far more personal than an email or contact form fill. Like their posts, comment on your favorite venue’s latest picture and you’ve found a way to connect before that email is sent asking for their services.

Group Messages

Between a full-time career, planning your wedding, and you know-all the real life stuff, like trying to get your oil changed, group chats can be true life savers. Having one running on Facebook with all your bridesmaids, especially those who decided to scatter themselves about the country. Keep in touch with all things wedding related so they never miss a beat! Update them with all your ideas, current plans, and of course all the events you’ll need them to attend pre-wedding!

Group Pin Boards

If you don’t have Pinterest, you’re doing it all wrong! Your wedding party, AKA your best friends in the entire world, want to make sure your day is perfect and they add to that perfection. When the questions start rolling in about bridesmaid dresses, shoes, what jewelry is appropriate, what bridal shower invitations you’d like, it is time for a little inspiration board. Having a group pin board to share with your bridesmaids is the perfect way you all can share ideas, looks, and dresses. Seeing a dress in an actual image can be a lot more helpful than, “oh I don’t know I want something kinda blue and kinda pink, that goes to the floor and if it ends up being black then that’s cool too…” Plus this is a fun way to show off your inspiration to your besties!

Social media is a tool that we all use daily, so when it comes time to plan a wedding, it’s a no brainer to tap into the various tools each platform offers. Planning a destination wedding, with friends and family living in a dozen different states can be a bit of a challenge, but tapping into social media has certainly made life a little easier.
