All across the country, Perfect Wedding Guide couples are asking guests to unplug and enjoy their wedding ceremony.

If you have been to a wedding any time in the last few years, you probably saw these words somewhere.

Or, during the ceremony, you have seen a field of smartphones, tablets, and cameras in front of you as you look toward the happy couple exchanging their vows.

If you genuinely want your family and friends to unplug and enjoy there are a couple ways to let them know.

Subtle Social Sharing

Since most of your friends are taking these pictures to share on social media, start there.

Share the cute sign you found or designed on your social media pages.

might be the not so subtle hint some of them need.

Wedding Website

Most tech-savvy guests will be checking out your wedding website. Sharing that you will be requesting an Unplugged Ceremony on your site sets the stage.

BTW

If you are providing welcome bags for your guests, this is the perfect time to reinforce your wishes. A note tucked into the welcome bag might do the trick.

Send Them A Sign

If you chose to post a sign as your guests enter your ceremony, make sure it is big enough to see, and you might want two to make sure your entrances are covered.

We Interrupt This Program

Including your request in your wedding program is always another option. However, this one might be preaching to the choir. We’re guessing the folks who are not busy taking photos might be the only one reading this.

Just Tell Them!

Your officiant will be the first to enter your ceremony as the processional begins. While they have everyone’s attention, they can simply make an announcement.

NOW, the reason that everyone is trying to get pictures of your wedding ceremony is to share them on social media and publicly wish you well.

So be sure to talk to your photographer about getting a few images from the ceremony as ASAP to share with everyone.

Recently, I attended an unplugged wedding ceremony. There were plenty of signs, and there were still cellphones popping up all over as the wedding party entered, even one on a selfie stick.

You could see the bride off in the distance as she made her way down to the ceremony, visibly upset as she watched guests snap images of the wedding party.

Some days you just have to go with the flow!
