Brides-to-be rarely put practicality at the forefront of their search for the perfect wedding dress – but that’s why so many people are loving the new bridal trend of wedding dresses with pockets.

Wedding dresses (and jumpsuits) with pockets were all over the runways during Bridal Fashion Week.

Since then, we’ve seen a surge in the addition of practical pockets to wedding dresses from the very top bridal designers to high street bridal lines, as more brides opt for comfort on their big day.

Robin Weil, founder and CEO of weddingplanner.co.uk, agrees that the trend of pockets in gowns has risen as a direct result of brides prioritising comfort and practicality on their wedding day.

“Wedding dresses with pockets have been gaining popularity for the last few years now,” he told us.

“From a bride’s perspective, it’s quite a practical solution if they want to keep their phone, tissues or lipstick with them, it’s ideal.”

Taking to Twitter, one wedding guest shared a photo of a bride in her wedding dress with pockets, saying: “STOP EVERYTHING so one of my friends got married yesterday and she had POCKETS ON HER WEDDING DRESS which is just the best thing I have ever seen.”

The strapless gown – designed by Suzanne Neville – featured a large skirt with subtle pockets in the seams.

And while hardly revolutionary, the response to the bride’s smart pockets has sent social media into meltdown with the picture quickly being retweeted thousands of times and other brides are now sharing their own #weddingdresseswithpockets moments…
