Congratulations! You’re engaged! So what’s next? The second you make your first move can easily be a huge hit or a flop. The first post will blow up your phone and the second your mom says anything you’ll be getting phone call after phone call. Now there are posts that will tell you what to do, but this one will tell you what not to do.

A Video of the Sparkly Ring

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we get it. You just got this super gorgeous ring that will catch your attention every two seconds, and we are all thrilled for you! It’s beautiful and we’re all a tad bit jealous, but nobody likes a bragger. All social media outlets allow you to post a video somewhere within, and we don’t need to see it on each site like we know you want to post it on. It’s more sentimental when you show it off in person, anyway! So let’s keep it to that.

Announcement Post Before You Tell Friends and Family

Uh-oh. Don’t you dare post “I said yes!” before you call your parents, grandparents, besties, etc. because there WILL be a throw down. Okay, probably not, but feelings may be hurt. Let’s all share in this excitement together by letting the most important people know first before Susie from high school art class.

Dates and Details

Slow down, girl! If you’re not wanting everyone and their mother there, refrain from posting dates and details. If you post it by letting Susie know, but she’s not invited, chances are she and the other “acquaintances” from high school might show up. We have invitations and other forms of stationery for a reason. Save the details for those you want there for sure, and send them an invitation for their fridge.

A Million Hashtags

If you pick one punny one for your wedding, great! We love hashtags! But if you have any more than one, we might roll our eyes. #Engaged! #MissToMrs! #FutureMrsWhatever! Okay, okay, okay, we get it. Now let’s pick one for our guests to remember for the big day, and stick with that.

Future Mrs. Whatever On Your Profile

We all do it, but shouldn’t your relationship status say enough? We understand this is a huge trend and you’re over the moon excited to become a Mrs. but the hashtag, engagement post, and relationship status all tell us for you. Let’s not forget the gorgeous engagement photos you’re going to take! We won’t forget.

Speaking of hashtags, let us know what you’ve come up with in the comments below!
