We are hours away from ringing in 2017 – 36 to be exact. With little over a day to prep, you have plenty of time to plan one AMAZING New Year’s Eve party. Your friends and family will be ready to bid farewell to 2016 and cheers to the fresh start that 2017 has. But how do you plan a champ-tastic NYE party in a day, on a budget? Easy. Follow these steps!

Step 1: Theme
The easiest way to select a theme: pick the perfect colors. For NYE the go-to choices are gold, white and black. Now run with that! You can find decent prices on plastic cups, paper plates, utensils, confetti and balloons at Party City. For those living in a state that Hobby Lobby exists, check out their weekly ad for these items.

Step 2: Food Prep
Seeing as NYE is all about champagne and small bites, focus on that. Run to your local grocery store or wholesale marketplace (i.e. Sam’s, BJ’s or Costco) to get platters of small bites. Great go-to options: cheese trays, fruits trays or veggie trays. Want more food, consider Publix for a sub sandwich tray. After all, nothing beats a Pub-Sub!

Step 3: Champs on Champs on Champs
Champagne (aka Champs) is a critical part of New Year’s Eve. The bubbly elixir of the Gods is what everyone should be holding in their hand when the bell strikes midnight. Go someplace like Total Wine to purchase your champs because they offer 10% if you purchase 6 or more bottles. Winning!

Step 4: Accessories
You can’t ring 2017 in without the appropriate over-the-top obnoxious party accessories. While you are out picking up serve ware from Party City, check out their NYE accessories. Don’t have the 2017 glasses or horns that you want, then run to Michael’s. Before you checkout, make sure you have downloaded their app for 40% your purchase. Also, seeing you’ll be hosting this event at your house, consider picking up (or making) a backdrop for photos.

Step 5: Wardrobe
While you’re sticking with black, white and gold as your theme, be sure to grab a FAB outfit that makes you the belle of the ball. Love gold? Find the perfect little gold sequin cocktail dress to pair with black opaque tights and black pumps. If your theme is more low-key, dress accordingly. Hell, you could throw a NYE PJ Bash and encourage all your guests to wear PJs and bring sleeping bags to crash after the ball drops. (I’m making a mental note of that idea because it’s GENIUS!)

Step 6: Set the Scene
Now that you’ve got all your supplies, it’s time to set the scene. What do I mean by that? I’m talking about selecting the perfect playlist to put on repeat, turning the TV on to NBC for the scene in New York and listening to some top-notch singers perform. Make everything absolutely perfect so you are setup for a successful NYE party.

Now that you’ve got your list, it’s time to start planning and purchasing! Have another idea of how to plan a NYE Bash on a Budget? Leave a comment below.
