Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot in a matter of weeks, and so to mark the occasion The Royal Horseguards Hotel is putting on a number of special events

If you’re a fan of the royal family, don’t miss your chance to celebrate the wedding of the year at The Royal Horseguards Hotel this May. Running throughout the month is the very special Transatlantic Royal Wedding Afternoon Tea, which has been created especially for the couple, and is inspired by their respective heritage. The best cakes, sweet treats and sandwich fillings from either sides of the Atlantic have been brought together for the first time. Red velvet cupcakes and mini pecan pies sit alongside blueberry cheesecakes and Victoria sponges, complete with flourishes of gold crowns and stars and stripes. Choose from a selection of sandwiches, including London smoked salmon and cream cheese, honey roast ham and mustard and crayfish with Marie Rose sauce. And of course, you’ll be treated to a variety of scones with cream and jam, as well as a choice of loose leaf teas and a glass of champagne to toast the newlyweds.

General Manager of The Royal Horseguards Hotel, Ian Fletcher, said“We wanted to create something extra special to mark the Royal wedding of HRH Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and what better way than a transatlantic twist on the traditional afternoon tea?“We’ve taken inspiration from classic dishes from both America and the UK and brought them together in a marriage of flavours that complement each other perfectly, much like the happy couple themselves.”

Also available is the Royal Wedding Experience; on May 19th, a ticket will buy you access to a private screening of the wedding, the aforementioned afternoon tea, live music from harpist Rebecca Toal and some champagne too.
